A simple observation: if I were gonna drive team, I'd want the biggest Freightshaker Condo or similar tractor & sleeper just for the living space aboard that truck. Some of the tractors used by "tanker yankers" have 2 bunks, but the tractors themselves are generally lower profile compared to a Condo, which means less living space, elbow room, lower overhead, whatever you wanna call it. Those tractors are fine for one person, but they'd get cramped mighty fast with two drivers aboard. Just my $.02 on this subject, I liked having as much interior room as possible aboard my tractor...

You'd change your mind the first time you had to snake through a tight little plant that was built before modern trucks with big sleepers and 250"+ wheelbases, and then had to back under a rack that won't accomodate a truck with a stand-up sleeper.

At some plants, especially the older ones, you can't fit a condo under the rack. And some are set up with a one-way traffic flow that makes backing under the rack a no-go.

there is a reason daycabs and low profile trucks are used. This picture really doesn’t show it good but this rack I had to pull in and around that tight area behind the trailer. In front of the truck are rail cars. So I have to back up into that alley and make a tight right to get out. A long hood or a stand up sleeper would not make it.

You need more info, simply saying “Hazmat Tanker” is too broad, is it chemicals, cryogenics, petroleum, etc. If it’s cryo running for a private fleet, like Airgas, AirProducts etc then you can beat you ### you will hit what they say you will $$$

Ah, see, that knowledge only comes with being a "tanker yanker"---but all the same, you're gonna have less living space aboard that truck. o_O

That he will but if he’s running for a cryo fleet won’t matter much as he would be home weekly.

There used to be some special stuff hauled by teams at Chem Leaman and Matlack that isn't done today.

DuPont used teams to get stuff done, Deepwater, NJ to a boarder crossing near San Diego then wait for the relay carrier to come and go in Mexico. -or- Sweetgrass, MT and wait for the relay to western Canada; that crossing was described as one two tap bar and a one screen movie theater...lots to do. At least the relays to Quebec and Ontario usually matched a single layover.

I ran cryo team 10 yrs or so ago.
We each did over 100K a year and got home on weekends. Mostly reload at the home plant but sometimes at a competitive company plant.
24/7/365 deliveries meant no delays except for weather.
