Hello everyone,
I'm trying to figure out if it matters what school I chose to go to for my CDL training..Crete has Progressive listed as one of their schools of choice, theyre ptdi certified, does that makes the driver more desirable to hire our does it really not matter as long as it's an accredited cdl training school?
Thank you,
Nightwind8830
Does it matter what school I choose to get my CDL???

I suspect that for some carriers, it may matter where you train at, and for some carriers it may not matter so long as you have a valid CDL, and clean MVR and other requirements. I'd recommend getting your initial starting choices narrowed down to 2 or 3 and see what their CDL training requirements are, if any, and see if anything overlaps that works for you.

most companies will accept any school training as long as it's accredited. also, you need to find out what the minimum course requirements the companies want. some insurance companies won't allow a driver to be hired unless he/she as 160 hours from an accredited truck driver training school. some only require less some want more and some don't care as long as you are of a certain age. best bet is to call around and visit schools in your area. then go online to BBB and look up the school and check any other consumer complaint website. the school I went to had 3 complaints and out of the three 2 were resolved with satisfactory results. the 3rd was still in dispute. just do research. ask the trucking companies what schools they recommend .

It's ironic the carriers that are most selective on training are the ones that pay the lowest.
