Since it does not evaporate, it stays around....next time you gas up your car, look at the lane with the diseal pump too...it is always slicker/dirtier.
If you can't stand the smell of the fuel...(some folks actually don't mind it), then maybe it not for you. I guess you could wear a different set of boots when you fuel...and keep them in a big airtight bag....but then you still have to deal with the stinky parking lot (if it has not rained in a day or two), and all the crappy restrooms+showers on the road.
If the smell id the fuel was the worst thing you had to deal with...life would be simple!!![]()

Lot WORSE smelling things in some of the trucks you can get assigned to.
Body odour , old wet dog , kitty went pee pee , smoke , burnt smell ( repair shop thinks they have that wiring glitch fixed ) mouldy musty smell from the A/C system , some unexplained rotten food smells , and FERBREEZE does not fix any of it.lupe Thanks this. -
O man I have really sensitive nose and I can't stand the smell of chemicals radiating from the plastic inside of new car and the guinea pig poop in our house while other members of the family think I'm weird for it.

Best stick to bookkeeping.

Does the truck stops where you have to sleep everyday stink like diesel?

I know what you mean about a sensative smeller..something I did yrs ago when I used to take my son when he was little into nursing home to visit the elderly that didn't get visitors..I couldn't stand that smell so I took some vasoline and mixed a couple drops of essential oil in it and then put a tiny bit just on the edge of the inside of my nose and it kept me from smelling the ick..and after a while you'll get used to it..simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
I got my sister with this one! She asked: "How far can you go with a gallon of gas?"..
My answer: "I can honestly tell ya that I can drive my rig from coast to coast with a gallon of gas."..simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
I bet the fuel Islands do....the parking lots just smell like PISS or worse......the rest areas (if you have driven a car lately) are worse than ever...since many states are closing the restrooms......gotta love those bottles of yellow all around....and the little baggies...do I need to get more graphic?!
If your biggest question about getting into trucking is smells....I think you might have some serious quality of life issues....you might need some smelling salts...kinda like they do at the morgue.....
And I am just talking as a 4 wheeler that has driven X-county more times than I can count (including the Alaskan Highway!!), often in a 6 wheeler towing a trailer.....(CDL school starts soon).
It takes mental and physical toughness to be a professional driver....I would say learn to overcome unpleasent things....just like if you were in the service....it will help you lots in accomplishing ,many things in life....driving and other stuff too!! -

ummmmmm..not try'n to be rude but you will need to grow some girl balls and selective hearing and learn to pick your battles and don't sweat the small stuff but decide what the small stuff is to you and stick to it and decide that in every industry there will be sacrifices that you will have to make..you can do it and without giving up your standards....I'm only speaking from my experience in the construction biz so there will be better advise comming from long time truckers
simplyred1962 and Working Class Patriot Thank this.
