Where do you live in China?
I'm orginally from TN and don't plan to live there again, even if it is a beautiful state. Winters in TN aren't that long, but 1 day of snow is too much for me anymore. One company you and your wife might check is Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas Inc.

Martin Enterprises of the Carolinas Inc. doesn't have a CDL school, but would probably hire you as a team once you get your CDL.

To make the best money you need to get with a coast-to-coast operation. Melton Truck Lines will team you together after you get CDL schooling.

I understand Central Refrigerated will train you together in their own CDL school and team you together.

System Transport runs teams and pays .50 cents a mile split.

Melton Truck Lines and System Transport have APU's so you can stay comfy 24/7.

Benny Whitehead Trucking runs teams mainly doing Florida-West Coast turns. They would probably put you and wifey together from day one after you complete a CDL school.

It has it's benefits; I encouraged my wife to keep her Chinese citizenship which she did. She was surprised that I would agree to that. The underlying reason is to keep benefits in both countries; my USA benefits & her Chinese benefits. My 2 children don't look the least bit Chinese, but they are US citizens and their birth certificate lists them as Chinese born in TN. They can go to any top university in China just by applying because they are USA citizens/minorities half Chinese/half white and their mother is Chinese citizen. Wife has a MBA from a top university in China which gives her some pull also. Lots of other stuff also that will benefit them.

Ya, no joke. We're planning to get her some 4 wheeler experience, and I plan to cover for her a lot. Give her all the easier driving, but still I have serious doubts about her
being able to handle the job. I think that most companies will want her to have at least 2 years driving experience (4 wheeler). Maybe she should be my ride along passenger, just getting used to the job for a while before going to CDL school.

I don't have QQ. Subway stop Tu Qiao is closest to our condo. Maybe we can visit soon; can pick you up at subway in wifes clunker.

Good idea to let wife be a rider in the beginning. My wife rode with me all over USA & loved it. She was surprised at the poverty everywhere, thinking everyone in USA is rich. Running solo with your wife as a rider, your best bet for being able to put money in savings would be with a flatbed or tanker company. Too much sitting & waiting with reefer or dry van. Reefer is OK though if you go with a company that runs 48 states using solo driver with rider program. I was running reefer when my wife rode with me & I was taking home avg. $1000.00 weekly, but I felt very fortunate to have that take home pay. Also, look for a company that the trucks have APU's. A couple of flatbed companies to consider that hire new drivers are System Transport and Melton Truck Lines. Both companies use APU's.

Had my wife first get her license in China, she learned on a stick, we had a Landwind SUV, at the time.. One problem she had and still does to a degree is "spatial awareness" Where the car is in regard to other objects and how it behaves it tight quarters. First time she took the Landwind out she did ok driving around town, but when she got home I got one of those "how much do you love me" phone calls, she had managed to literally hang one side of it against a concrete post getting it parked, in our apartment assigned parking space. Got better after a while. Later we moved to US for a while and first thing I did was hire a local driving instructor to teach her the "proper" way to drive. She aced the driving and written test, and off she went. Pretty confident now in city and rural driving, we've driven across country, she's pretty good driver, still not as "smooth" as I'd like.

We just bought a delivery van, GMC 2500 to do local deliveries for an office supply place, once we get the route down I'll let her work with that... I doubt I'll ever make a trucker out of her, she still has this cultural thing about "loosing face" because she's "a truck driver's wife" She's still thinking in terms of those horrid blue cab over trucks you see running around in China that are way overloaded at tilted to one side.
