AND this is why you fuse at the battery, debur holes, put grommets in (preferably hard plastic ones) and tie the cabling up properly.

Another trick is to fuse the ground at the unit but that's another discussion for another reason.

    Elroythekid Thanks this.

OK, I have an inverter question. My company is getting ready to put me a truck that has an inverter, the inverter brand is Cobra. And, it is installed under the lower bunk. There are two power ports on the wall that supports the bunk. The pulg in's are like what is on the dash (power ports), that is, a round recepticle. I need to plug in a two prong plug, like what goes into a wall socket. How do I do that? Is there an adapter that fits into the round power port, and has the two prongs on the other side, to plug into? I hope my question makes sense?

The round plugs are 12v DC straight off the batteries. The only plugs are directly on the inverter so get a power strip if you need more or need to relocate the outlets.

Thanks, but I am still confused. How do I plug the power cord into the inverter? I will need an adapter that plugs into the (round recepticle) on the, attached to the inverter, and on the other side, it would have two slots, like what plugs into the wall? So, I assume there is an adapter?

The inverter box is usually mounted on the floor. It'll most likely be in an extruded aluminum she'll with fins. It should have standard American plugs installed.

I'll have to look again. I am pretty sure the inverter only has round recepticles attached (hooked up) to it. I did not notice standard American plugs (I take it the standard American is the two prong recepticle, like a wall socket). And, you are right, it is mounted on the floor, under the bunk. I'll check back after I confirm, I am not near the truck right now. And, thanks for your help.

Looks like the plugs are colored the same as the faceplaon the cobras. Use a flashlight. 3 prong.

Will do. And you are right, it would be a three (3) prong plug, I forgot the third plug, the ground.

Silly me, it was dark, I did not notice the standard (wall socket) type plug on the inverter itself..... So, I am set.... Thanks.
