Hello there I have already enrolled in a Trucking School here in Atlanta, but having a hard time getting pre hire letters due to passing a stopped school bus in 2008. It was not wreckless or careless just a normal moving violation. I have nothing else on my driving record or even my criminal record. Any hints!

You passed a stop school bus? Where the lights flashing & the stop arm out? Were there children on the bus?

There were not even children present, but the companies dont seem to care the just look at the facts. Just curious if anyone knew anything about new companies views on this.

Each company would have a different view. I'm willing to guess though that you'd have a better chance getting pre-hire letters if you would've ran a GA state patrol officer off the road instead.

LOL! I have a friend that did just that a couple of years ago... He was comming down a bridge(pure ice) tapped on the breaks, and started to go sideways down the other side. A trooper happened to be comming the other way seen what was happening and took the ditch before the bridge.

My friend regained control and hit nothing. The trooper however, slapped him with a ton of citations... wreckless, overdriving road conditions, speeding(although he wasn't). He took the tickets, delivered the load on time, and retained an attorney. Got plead down to a dangerous manuever, which required a winter driving course completion, no points on license after course completion.

Company basically said, be more carefull... and that was it.

If it involved a school bus, I'm sure he would have been lookin' for a new job.

Deepwater with all due respect you start a new thread about the same thing that you had in another thread and are you expecting different results? You passed a stopped school bus with it's arm out. That is a no no, plain and simple. If companies are holding that against you that is their right. There's nothing in their policy that says they have to hire everybody. If they see that on your record and see another who has a spotless record believe me they will hire the other guy first.

After having a real job with responsibility you get paid for you wouldn't like trucking anyway. Might be for the best in the long run.

Actually I started this thread first but didnt get any responses. And as for responsible work, have you ever seen the show Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel? Does that look tough to you? I do the same thing but I longline Halibut instead of fishing crab. I own a 70 ft longliner worth 350,000 and have a crew of 5 guys who depend on me to make the right decisions on an daily basis. Who knows about responsibility. ha ha ha

You will be working day in and day out with people (shippers receivers and sometimes your own company) who like their job and life less than you like yours and make it a point to treat you like crap because they can. It gets old.

I drive a schoolbus and it irriates me to no end when people ignore the flashing red and stop arm. Little kids are like squirrels...They have no idea what they will do next. Once they get off bus and parents try and take their hands the kid might decide to play "catch me if you can" and run across the road. Thier might not be a reason but, if you run my stop arm and hit a child...You get a mistermeanor charge and manslaughter if the kid dies...It also puts the busdriver on a couple days off.....If a Florida police catch you running it then your going to get an expensive ticket. $250 and up...It's make sense to watch 30 seconds or so....
