does someone need a regular license before They get their C.D.L.

It depends on the state. I was under the impression most do because of the states I've had CDL's in. You posted in that other thread EDBear and was going to post that response. But I read the CA manual and CA DMV website and could find nothing on prerequisites. Maybe a phone call to the CA DMV will clear that up, 1-800-777-0133. You won't find many other drivers in your situation.

 

It must depend on individual companies, then. The company I've applied to wants you to have had a license for at least a year prior.

 

well i know you do need a reg DL first..before u can get ur CDL.....but i have never heard it needs to be any length of time....but like you said..the company required it....

 

guess i wasnt very clear....sorry....i did indeed get my reg DL before school.....but only the week before....so yes, you do need it....

 

have to have class D license for at least one year clean MVR and criminal record is a big plus too
