Does swift check for sleep apnea?

Don't know! Why don't you call them and ask them! Do you have it? Or are you avoiding getting the test and the machine and everything that goes with it? If you plan on getting into this industry please do not avoid getting tested because if you have the symptoms and don't get it corrected you are going to cause some real troubles for some folks when you slump over the steering wheel because you are not getting the proper rest, It would be a sad day in the lives of those childrens families lives when they find out the driver that killed their child and 39 others could have gotten it fixed, Now I know this is very very far fetched and if you don't have it and are just sending it out there then fine! No. they do not. Off the big ones they are the only ones that do not. If you go to Werner they do however they pay for it all.

 

Companies all tend to jump on this new illness without knowing more information. Sleep apnea is not as frequent as they make it out to be. Most of the trucking companies are only testing if you are overweight and that is crazy as it can be anyone. So I tell ya what when they start testing everyone then i will be ok with it.

 

Had a student come from Swift and he said they didn't check so you should be good. If you are worried just keep your mouth shut.

 

Amen. I have had a couple of students that were big guys and both had 3 month med cards just because of their size. The both slept silently and well. Sleep apnea is a concern but no where near the epidemic proportions that some make it out to be. It's just another excuse to keep tabs on drivers with all this reporting machine usage. Do we have a machine that reports the amount of time corrective lenses must be worn?

 

You can buy test kits now instead of having to go pay $3,500 to $5,000 at some sleep center I've heard companies going with the kits cause they only cost about $200.00 so you do the math ....I had the test done thru my company they said I had I knew I did I was gonna do the test about a yr an a half early but I used up all my dough on another medical issue ....

Yeah I got cpap machine an no I don't use I've been off the road 14 months now I lost a bunch of weight last winter due to illness an ain't used it since ...however I can tell you I've gained almost all the weight back and I need to start using it again tho I should invest in one of those kits to see what my level of sleep apnea is tht will determine how much PSI they will set the machine too
.....I can also tell you this if you read over sleep apnea info an do a short self diagnosis ..and figure you got it you have one other option if your fatt lose weight if not you'll have to get the machine

You will sleep a helluva lot better if you get the machine an you need it its no comparison if you got it an they set it right
