I can imagine now. When I started in the army 1989 the only standard vehicles where the old 2 1/2. And 5 tons. And the occasional old relic of the Vietnam War jeep.

When I first enlisted in the army I was a 19k a tanker unfortunately spend a lot of time in support platoon driving the hemet's both the fuel and the cargo.

Then 7 years later became an 18d and stayed Special Forces for the rest of my military career

But one thing firing an M1 A1 is a freaking blast call pun intended. Something about shooting 120 mm Canon

there was some debate on here about transmissions and there is "no such thing" as a 8 speed. wrong. dead wrong. most dump trucks have an 8 speed eaton with deep reduction, however i dont think they are used in tractor trailers. it has gears 1-8 plus low range, and deep reduction blue button on the side of the shift nob.

It's the 9 where you got L as the lowest gear and 8 as the highest it's correctly refered to as a 9 but many call it a 8.... Also has a ghost gear so could be driven exactly like a 10 except a very short gear step between 4th and ghost....
BTW I only been driving 2 years don't got to be a old timer to know things just got to want to learn

Exactly. On a 9 speed, high range "granny" is effectively the same as low range 4th. I used to use it all the time for toll booths in New Jersey.
