Does this look okay to you? Cummins ISB 6.7 oil level?

One of the trucks in our fleet was just serviced by a company contracted to perform preventative maintenance and repairs. I pulled the engine oil dipstick the morning after the service was completed and what I saw is in the picture below. The engine had less than 30 minutes of run time between the oil change and the time of the photo, and it had not run at all during the 15 hours before the photo.

To me, the oil level and color indicates that the tech did not thoroughly drain the old oil out and added at least the engine capacity on top of what was already there. To me, this is not acceptable and the oil should be knocked back a few quarts.

FYI, it's a 2018 Freightliner M2106 with a Cummins ISB 6.7 CM2350. It's an aerial lift that's operated in NYC, and it sees low engine load with high idle/PTO hours. I've not returned this truck to service yet pending a debate with the contracted company, who claim that the vehicle can be operated in this condition without issue.

What does everyone else think or know about this sort of (dis)service? Your feedback comes with much appreciation.

Looks like it’s overfilled 2 gallons. Otherwise it will mix with the little bit that was left in pan

Completely unacceptable. I’ve put 1400 miles on my most recent service. Oil is still clean.

Someone half ### done their job.

At the very least it was overfilled. Running it overfilled will cause several issues, the least of would be over pressurizing the crankcase, resulting in leaks. The worst case would be the crank foaming the oil and causing serious lubrication problems.
Maybe an honest mistake, but it should have been caught by the individual that did the oil change when the oil level was checked after the service was done and the engine was ran checking for leaks.

It goes without saying, check the oil after the service. My mechanic saved my bacon servicing my personal car.

I supply the oil and filter. Because he doesn’t carry my brand of choice. Got a call from him the first time he changed it. Need more oil. You have a 7 quart pan on this thing, not a 5.

A good mechanic is worth every dime you spend. Even if it hurts ;)

Colour of the oil is irrelevant. I've left drain plugs out over lunch breaks and refilled the engine when I came back. Oil is still dark. Just the way it is. Used oil will be dark black in most cases.

Always check the oil level 2 or 3 times. For some reason, sometimes oil gets up into the dipstick tube and makes the level look higher than it actually is.

Oil will darken rather quickly if the engine is dirty inside. The level is way over full though.

Color is about normal from what I can see, did you wipe it off and check it again right away, sometimes it seems like it creeps up in the tube sometimes.
