When you have your authority does it limit you to what you can haul, or is it whatever you can handle. I am in the proccess of swapping from a bootlegger to a legal carrier and was just checking.

If I recall, the main differentiators are personal property (you are a moving company) and hazmat (all types of cargo). Common carrier authority is good for anything that doesn't fall into the above categories.

Thanks REdforman. By the way, where is Johns Creek? I know where Alpharetta is, and Suwanee and even Shakerag. But I can't for the life of me remember Johns Creek. And they say I used to close by. LOL
-
They cleverly named the new city after the creek basin that runs through the middle of it. It's between Alpharetta and Duluth.
-
You can also have authority for livestock only.
-
Johns Creek is in between North Fulton, and Cumming Ga, off 141. If you take 285, to peachtree Indusrial/141 north, and go 15 or so miles, that's Johns Creek. Surprised to hear you call it Johns Creek. Mostly only locals call it that, most refer to the area as Alpharetta, even though Johns Creek is only a small neighborhood in Alpharetta.
You can also take 85 n/s, get off Sugarloaf Pkwy, to McGinnis Ferry, and that will drop you off in Johns Creek. Or, take 400n to Mansell. -

If you haul vehicles you will need higher liability insurance . $1,000,000 instead of $750,000
