I understand that Covenant and Central deduct $ from their drivers for idling!!!
Does anyone else do this nonsense? How much do they charge you? Are you allowed any "free" idling at all? Do these companies offer to pay for IdleAir?
Just curious, thx
Does your company charge you for idling??? How much???

No; I idle when I need to.
-
Used to be a time where drivers would get fuel bonus and safety bonus. Now theyre deducting pay for idling? Is that legal?
-
If you signed paperwork allowing your company to deduct your pay, they can charge you for anything YOU ALLOWED them to charge you for! So illegal, no, not if you signed their paperwork.

This really is a scam to treat drivers like crap more. Oh and they will get by with it, because there will always be drivers that allow it, just to have a job!
-
If your company decided, effective Oct. 1, to start charging their drivers $2.50/hour for all their idle time, would you still be working for them on Oct. 2?
-
Not no...but hell no.
Oh I might, just for sh### and giggles until the first of the year. If I could see myself clear until then.
But I will tell you this. When the IRS came in and audited their sorry ### next year. I would be standing outside, with a video camara in hand.
You could bet your ### I would write every dime of it off on my tax returns, as an unreimbursed fuel purchase.
And you know as well as I do, that's going to trip a red flag. Because THEY will claim it as an expense to the IRS and IFTA.
I'll get audited too, most likely. But my audit will find a mis filed claim.
Theirs will find fraud....and lots of it. -
