I called up selectrucks in Charlotte today and the dude basically didn't want to talk to me after he found out I have very little credit, so it ain't looking good I guess on buying a truck. I filled out credit apps with selectrucks in Charlotte, and Atlanta anyway, and one for Arrow in Atlanta, and one for Volvo in Charlotte.
I got on that Dave Ramsey plan and paid cash for used cars, never got credit cards, etc., and now it's biting me in the rear end.
The only thing on there is where I took out a $3000 signature loan over 8 years ago, and quickly paid it off, and where I paid off my 2 acres of land, which is only $18,000. I paid off the trailer, too, but it's in my wifes name, and as positive as that sounds, it'll be outweighed by all the negative on her report (medical bills). Too bad the truck driving school that ripped me off 11 years ago isn't on there, or all the #### medical bills I paid off.
Oh well, I guess I'll tuck my tail between my legs and go find another company job where I'll do everything they ask me, never ask for time off, but still beg for miles, and not get them. Dave Ramsey's plan is stupid.
Doesn't look good on buying a truck.

Have you checked with the local small banks. Ones that deal with farming and small companies? I would go that route. Take your paperwork for all loans, paid off accounts in and SHOW them that you are not a credit risk, but a smart person. Also, do some leg work and a projected cash flow for them. It will help.
Torqued-Up Thanks this. -
Personally...Dave has a good idea. Too bad it isn't his, and he admits it.
I have to pay cash too. And no way in hell would I be looking for a truck right now, unless I could pay cash.
My credit is hosed, for the same reasons. I haven't bought but one thing on credit in the past 10 plus years. Even then I had to have a co-signer.
I look at my ZERO credit score as a good thing. It prevents me from making stupid mistakes.
Being debt free doesn't mean you can buy what you want, when you want. It simply means your free to buy things when you've saved the money. And you usually save at a much higher rate than someone in debt...or should anyway.
Company driver isn't all bad. At least it isn't if you get with the right company.panhandlepat and WiseOne Thank this. -
My credit isn't perfect and I was approved through Selectrucks. I wish I hadn't at this point, but that neither here nor there. They should be able to tell you pretty quicky if it's yes or no.

Best to save a good down payment, then credit would be more forthcoming, even with the small town banker.
The medical bills aren't supposed to affect your credit rating, but they may have changed that. -
i guess you fell off the wagon trying to buy a truck on credit LOL
i admit, dave sets a hard standard to follow but it is a valid plan my friend! -

I do not NEED a fancy new car...I bought a great one with CASH. A lady where I work just bought another Yukon yesterday with a freaking $640 monthly payment! A USED one! Amazing! That is lunacy! It never ceases to amaze me the absolute stupidity of Americans. We are FAST going into a depression and what in HELL would make you think to get a $640 payment now???
I am here to tell you...we are coming into a depression and I saw this YEARS ago. I looked around me and said WHOA...I have got to get out of debt and off the road! Shoot, it was all around me and obvious as HELL. And, that was years ago. Yes, I listened to Dave Ramsey and got out of debt...but kept my cards to use, not for debt but for regular purchases and then pay them off every time knowing what I have, etc. I sold my Jeep Grand Cherokee for cash and got a car with 98,000 miles on it for $3500 cash and it was immaculate. I thank GOD he gave me the sense to do this now! And, I thank Dave for pushing the debt-free! I feel GREAT being debt-free ESPECIALLY right now! I see people struggling because of their stupidity right now and I breath free. PHEW!
There is no excuse for being in debt. NONE. Excepting the fact of some emergency health bill or something. Other than that, NONE. You do not need to be in debt.panhandlepat Thanks this.
