Dog lies down in road for hours at spot where Florida accident claims his owner's life

The station reported that Black’s family took the dog home. The family said the pair were inseparable.

The operator of the semi-truck was pulling out of the gas station when he apparently struck Black and dragged her more than 30 feet.

The trucker may not have known he hit someone, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office told Action News.

Such a tragedy. My condolences to the family.

When they find this "driver" I will be very anxious to hear his excuse. This is inexcusable.

No doubt, dog can be your best friend!

Once I was out in a pasture cutting up some fire wood. My dog Bandit was laying in the shade of a tree watching me about 50 to 70 feet from me. All of a sudden I heard a noise behind me that nearly scared me to death, I even dropped my power saw. I turned around and a coyote that looked very bad was about 6 feet from me and Bandit had come over, had him by the neck, killing him. I guess I would have been a attacked by that coyote if Bandit had not been watching over me.

I've had two dogs that I believe would protect me from anything.

No doubt, he was wanting dinner, & he did not see Bandit laying over under the shade tree, watching out for me.

Surprised that he would get anywhere near the noise of a power saw. He must have had a "powerful hunger!"
