The 44 tons, I took that as the load weight from your earlier post. MAX LEGAL weight is 40 tons (80,000lbs) this is for the load and the truck, it is called your gross weight. You will need a minimum of 7 axles to haul that, some states will require more axles, depending on what your empty weight is so that you can meet bridge laws. I can scale 88K on my 7 axle truck and trailer, my gross weight would be 137,500lbs. To run that kind of weight across Montana, I would be looking at a permit cost of around $600, I can run that same load across North Dakota for $35.

11cents per mile put into a maintenance type fund should help you with and oh #### moments you might initially run into.

Yes, anything over 40 tons is overweight.

A day cab to do heavy haul will not be that light, it will be over 20K.

A 50 ton trailer is going to weigh 22-25K.

    Pwnm30rdi3 Thanks this.

Not true, all depends on size and weight.

I'm running loads right now thru 4 different states, 2 of the states require 1 pilot car, the other 2 don't require any. A state like Washington would require me to have 2.

Scale tickets to get the load weighed to make sure you're legal.$10.50 for first weight. If over $2.00 per reweigh.
