The beautiful part of being desperately bored eating the same thing every day is you see food as just putting fuel in the tank instead of pleasant and comforting. That attitude about food will help you from gaining weight which is bound to happen once you have time and money and stores with enjoyable food nearby everyday. You can eat yourself out of this job if you gain enough weight or wind up arguing with doctors about sleep studies and CPAP devices.

As a carhauler I walked about 7 miles each day, up and down the ladders dozens of tines a day a d 4 chains on each car, twice a day so I burned off a lot of calories!

A typical day was a black coffee and a banana leaving the house, then a ham and egg on a bagel or roll (no cheese, no butter just ham and egg) from the deli up the street from where I parked.

Lunch was whatever leftover or sandwich I brought and then the fruit or vegetables as snacks throughout the day to keep me from grabbing candy bars or bad stuff.

Dinner was always light since I was usually eating at 7 pm and in bed by 9-9:30 so I could be back up at 3 am.

Some of these how do I eat on the road from local drivers make me go huh? Didn't any of you go through elementary and Jr. High School when you brought packed lunches? Is that a too ancient idea? Dude, pack a lunch.

Unless it’s specified by their state most local drivers aren’t required to take a 30.

I don't think he was complaining, just looking for alternatives - not just for now, but also for when he's out on his own.

Hot lunches in schools have been a thing for a very long time.

Even if the OP had bag lunches for 12 years, at a certain point a man gets tired of a sandwich, a bag of chips, a cookie, and a thermos of room temperature juice. If you've become accustomed to having a refrigerator and microwave in the break room, it's understandable to search out advice in dealing with a new environment - which is a big part of why TTR exists.
