DO NOT DO IT! Werner tried to get me on to that account when I was with them. Basically you are a driver AND a lumper. They promise you the moon for pay and, admittedly I did have friends that made a bit more than I did OTR but they worked their @$$es off doing it. The pay to unload your own trailer is a joke. STAY AWAY!

That's crazy but not worth it

 

I currently run the DG account for werner. I am 40 in good shape. The pay seems silly at 16 bucks to unload but you get 3 or 4 stops per run and then 36-40 bucks for empty trailer on top of 1900 miles a week at 28 cents(average solo). it can take an hour to 4 hous for each stop. If you train you only take the new guy or gal out for a day or two and get the extra miles and pay. It is hard work and some stores are perfect while some really suck with backing in and loading ramps. You push rolltainers onto the liftgate and stack the topper boxes on uboat carts or empty rolltainers. family dollar you fingerprint each item down a roller system, havent tried that maybe better or worse. If you don't mind working a bit dg account can be ok deal for drivers. You will get good exp on small roads and backing in also. You will be sleeping alot in the dg lots wich is nice in way to not worry about parking at truckstops but be ready for them to knock on your door at 3am to unload.

 

I live about 50 miles from the DG DC in Bessemer,Al., what would be my home time or will they keep me away since i live so close?
Are there any Drivers who get to go home everyday?
Would i get to take my 34 hr break at home or at a truckstop?
Currently i work for Budweiser and i made $45,000.00 last year. Can i make more than that after a few years with Werner on this account. thanks for any info!!

 

I was offered a job with Werner to the family dollar account and the guy said they deliver with lift gate and roll containers the pay is 1275.00 week and be out five days be home on the weekend.Can anyone that does that account tell is the pay good and the home time is to .Thanks
