Some people actually prefer porn to the bump and grind because the bump and grind is too much like work.

Well, another side to that coin is maybe some folks want the emotional connection before just hopping in the sack with somebody. I can’t really hold that against anyone.

the drivers the industry attracts are a reflection of the industry itself, with the hos rules the way the they are im not sure what kind of people you would expect to attract to the industry, you have to be a moron to think that the hos are there for your safety, companies sure aint gonna find smart people to buy into this rubbish.

@TripleSix @MACK E-6 A Matrix AND a Demolition Man reference in 1-2 quick succession in the same thread? Hot dam!

This pretty much sums up the vast majority of the modern working environment. Nobody can admit they made a mistake anymore and learn from it. It's always got to be someone else's problem.

We had a driver at our company about a year ago that learned everything he thought he knew on Youtube. Swore by that learning method. When he jackknifed a 65,000 lb truckload of steel tube on highway 17 last winter in Ontario because he was going too fast and didn't have much experience in winter driving conditions so he hammered the binders on black ice, all he could do was brag about how he walked away from such a "horrible" crash and went out a week later like nothing happened.

Those know-it-alls are the worst of the worst. They can never be wrong and always have to one-up everyone else (oh, you got to X location with 5 minutes left on your driving time? Well, I did it with TEN minutes left!).

Being able to learn something from an old hand, first hand, from decades of actual experience, is the greatest thing in this world.

I remember when I did orientation for one of those kind of guys, we spent three days in the classroom and he taught ME more than I taught him. That was one of the big turning points of my decision to get back out onto the road, I realized I still knew nothing and had no place training other drivers.

    Speaking of training drivers....

I'm about to find out if I'm patient enough for it or not. Soon I'll be in charge of helping a wet-nosed 20 year old kid get his CDL.

We'll see. After observing him perform duties around the warehouse/yard I'm not convinced it won't turn into a case of "two people left in the truck, why did only one come back?" That said, he could surprise me. I'll know more here in the coming weeks.

I’m not a good trainer, it helps if the student isn’t an idiot like my last one.

Got my skinny jeans on, and my cappuccino ready headed to meet Czar. I hope he doesn’t offend me!

Oh for the love of all that is holy, that's my nightmare.

Kid's not a skinny jean wearin' cream puff. He likes to hunt and wears big boy clothing, but his listening skills are questionable.

I'm often a nice guy to a fault. I just expect to be listened to especially when mistakes can lead to serious bodily harm or property damage. The former MP in me doesn't screw around. To quote the old codger who I learned to drive trucks from.... "Fail to do do what I ask and I'll stand on your eyelids. Do what I ask and we'll be the best of friends"

    We were friends.
