I got a ticket in Beaverton Oregon. Hired a lawyer. First, Beaverton put off the trial for six months. Then, my lawyer had a criminal case and asked my appearance be put off for six months. In the meantime, the Officer left the Department. So the city dismissed all his open cases.
    Never give up.

Do you have to show up in court or can the lawyer show up in your case?

Must not have been a major violation because if it was, I'm sure the DA would've pursued it.
Big difference between something like 5-9 over and 20+

    Not exactly true.
The cop has to appear in court....confront your accuser.
If the cop is no longer available, then there is no case.

In Washington and I think also in Oregon, but not sure about Oregon, the officer may file an affidavit with the court in lieu of having to show up in person.
