Now before you flip out and tell me I'm crazy about lease purchase hang on, perhaps I'm one of the lucky ones but I've completed 3 leases without so much as a hint of a problem or been lied to or had money disapear, so I'm investigating a 4th one the company is Starport transportation out of MO, they lease 07 and 08 W900's and T660's they work with Megatrux, ST Express, and Central Marketing transport does anybody know anything about these 4 companies or anything else

I'm just wondering why after 3 successful leases you just don't want to buy a truck from a dealer or private seller? The payments would be a lot lower. Just my thoughts here...

I know the feeling with the "dream house" thing...my wife has that bug and the "I want another baby" bug right now.

I'm sorry I can't help ya with any info on the companies, cause I've never dealt with them. All I can say is watch youself with another lease/purchase. Things are extremely tight in trucking and the companies are just looking for a reason to slash drivers, o/o, and l/o. Best of luck to ya and keep us informed.

Quoting from their website here about the w-9's...

    • 86 inch sleepers
    • Cummins ISX motors with 485/500 h.p.
    • Double bunks
    • Folding couch
    • Sunroof
    • Refrigerators
    • 18 speed transmissions
    • 5+ miles per gallon
    • Michelin super single tires
    • GPS navigation systems
    • Dual 150 gallon tanks
    • GPS navigation system
    • Wings on top of cab for better fuel mileage
    • A driver running 3,200 miles per week, should expect to bring home $750.00 to $850.00 each with with this truck
3200 miles a week to bring home 750 - 850? i'd bring home more than that on 2,000 miles with TMC as a company driver with a truck just as nice, although probably slightly slower ;). DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Don't let the nice trucks fool you, guys. You WILL pay for them, one way or another.

    • No credit check
    • Balloon payment at the end of the lease is $1.00
    • If you live within 200 miles of Springfield, there is no money down
    • If you live outside 200 miles of Springfield, there is a $1,000.00 deposit
    • Truck leases are 60 months from new. For example, if a truck has been leased for 6 months previously, the lease will be for 54 months
    • All truck payments include physical damage insurance, bobtail insurance, 2290 heavy vehicle tax, and personal property tax for the truck, for the life of the lease
    • Truck payment is $875 per week for the '07's
    • Maintenance is an additional $100 per week. This fund is available at any time during our business hours
    • Truck payment is $895 per week for the '08's
    • The truck payment comes out as payroll deduction only. The lease with the carrier is in your name, so that you can ensure the money you are making is yours.
    • Maintenance is an additional $100 per week. This fund is available at any time during our business hours
    • If service or repairs are done in our shop, we will deduct the amount of the work done from the maintenance account unless cash is paid
    • If service or repairs are done on the road, the driver will be responsible to pay for the amount up front. If a receipt is brought in to Starport, we will reimburse the amount, provided the driver has enough in their maintenance account
    • Your first payment will come out after your first full week of work, so the driver will not start out behind.
    • Rigmaster units are already on some trucks. An additional $75 per week is added for this service, if the lease is under 48 months at the time of leasing. An additional $65 per week is added if the lease is over 48 months
    • Carriers will handle all of the drivers plates and permits

That's a really long time for a lease. I'd try and see if you can do it for a year only if you're that intent on going there, or at least see that you won't be financially liable for anything if you chose to terminate your lease early and turn the truck in.

Wow!! Trucks that start at 5 mpg? That is a truck I would take out on the back 40 and blow up! I haven't averaged less than 6 mpg since..... 1980's. Most of the fuel surcharges out there are based on 6 mpg with only a few carriers that base it on something less.

Maybe nice trucks, but not for me. I run a business. I don't get a truck for the ego factor. It better make me money or it goes bye-bye. All the fancies are nice I guess if you are sitting around. But if you are really putting the miles away and also home for a social life on a regular basis, who cares if it has all the comforts including hot and cold running water and a theatre system.

I would agree with pullingtrucker, get a truck at a dealer and get a real money maker and save a lot of green in the long run. The deals are pretty sweet right now for trucks. I would bet they are a lot sweeter than ANY lease purchase and you have a real broad selection out there.

Not that I've ever done a lease myself, but have you read the JCT thread? Seems like they are doing pretty good over there with nice trucks and ***loads of miles.
