For company drivers, the company typically handle this "for the driver" but I'd be real cautious if you're can't depend on your company for much. Might be worthwhile to do this yourself following a company sanctioned physical, and let the company also do whatever it is they are going to do. I don't think the state getting 2 identical physicals is going to be an issue. The issue is going to be the state not getting ANY medical certification update, from anyone. And you'll be the first to know when you find you're CDL is no longer valid.
Don't forget to self certify your medical card at the dmv by jan 30 2014

Georgia has had this online for a while. Its cool cause you can create an account there then you just self certify by scanning your card and uploading it to the site two to four days later it is updated on the site and they email you a confirmation. Then 90 days before it expires they start emailing you to let you know... So no trips to hell... I mean DMV (DDS)

My CDL, which I got in December in NC has a little barcode thingy on the back that the DOT or police will be able to scan and see your medical card. But DMV said to carry the card also since all States are not on the same page yet....

Yep that's the point of the system from what I understand is so DOT can access it when they access your license. Bet they still make you show it lol Pretty soon your Fingerprint will be on there as well. Just like it is attached to the TWIC card
