Maybe. Might be coded for scanning in the cars. I have friends on the county pd, and will ask them next time I see them. Several are on the fire dept with me as well.

They are not delaying the certification date, just the date that you must also carry your paper copy.
That is because some states are behind in getting their records processed.

You still have to submit your card and physical papers to the DMV, and the self-certification form, by 01/31/14.

And CA drivers should be aware that CA requires their own special medical form - it can't be the one used by most states.
So if you get a physical anywhere but CA, make sure they use the CA form.

Just had mine done yesterday.I have to renew my medical card in March and was told that I would be "flagged" because it's less than 90 days for renewal.

Any new medical exam invalidates the last one.

With any new exam we are required to submit the new forms to the DMV, or the CDL will be downgraded.
But I'm not sure of the timeframe. Probably 30 days.

Do you have additional information regarding this? Because I took this article to mean it most certainly is being delayed as states are not prepared as of yet.

The states get a pass on having their databases ready, so drivers must continue carrying around the card in physical form. As far as I know, the states getting a pass does not give drivers a pass. Doesn't seem fair, but what else is new.

Edit: I updated my article to make it 100% clear that the deadline has been extended for state governments, not drivers.

I have emailed my medical card and I have faxed it into the state of TN. I called the TN DOT to see if they had received my medical card and I get an recording saying they will call me back in 4 days after I leave a message....then the recording goes on to say that their voice mail box is full and I should try again in the future to leave a message.

This is what happens to a state when they continually do not collect adequate taxes to run the basic services of government. The state of TN will not give me any kind of verification that they have received my medical card, and they do not have any option of me leaving a message for them to even ask them to call me back to verify their receipt of my medical card.

It seems other states use a thing called the internet to allow people to set up an account with the state so you can have 2 way communication with them!!!! Really, other states will actually tell you that they have received your medical card!!!!!

So now, if I ever get stopped by a DOT or police officer, they will look up my CDL in their database and tell me whether I am driving with a valid CDL..........how convenient to find out after the fact that I am am or am not driving with a valid CDL.
Thanks TN......you never cease to amaze. Does any other state do this in such a stupid manner?

Since I also have a school bus endorsement, I have to have a physical every 12 months, so I get to deal with a non-working system in TN every 12 months instead of every 24 months......
