I imagine OTR has to be a lot easier than running a day cab.
    All that city driving...yuck!
The only difference I could see is that with OTR, one is often in unfamiliar territory where day cab drivers usually in more areas they are familiar with.
Still though...If you territory is full of mountains and cities...my hats off to ya cause that's not easy driving.

Some OTR drivers are stupid, they are the ones with a ton of experience going from one horrible company to another expecting different results.

Some people can like it, I did it for 3 years and enjoyed my first year or so.

And there is more to life then money, life is also about having free time and the financial resources to enjoy it.

I run a day cab with zero city driving, its all about being linehaul and not city driving.

Everyone thinks differently, but my spin is every time that second hand on the time clock moves more money from the Co's bank account moves to my account. Traffic jam, accident whatever the clock just keeps ticking. Even if i go out of the state i'm still on the clock. I did years of OTR as an O/Op. it has never been the same since the Teamsters no longer represented us. Each to his own,but it is not what i want to do especially at the money that some of megas pay.

Well Been OTR for years but then again we have 2 trucks which we own, much different for folks who have to make truck payments. The wife and I do 700 miles a day on good days that is $1988 per day. Take off your fuel leaves about 1100.00 per day. Yup it sucks I better trade down to a day cab and find some short haul to do for Conway. Oh wait a minute then I wont get the tax credit for meals and showers, will have to pay for holiday trips instead of just getting 2 loads to where we want to lay on the beach. I guess we will just have to suck it up and remain poor misfortunate OTR longhaul drivers.

I rarely find myself jealous of others, but I have to admit, I'm jealous.

I've never driven a truck, so I'm sure it's rough, but I think I'd rather drive daily in Houston traffic than drive through the Virginia's, East Tennessee, and Colorado.. I think the mountains are my biggest fear.
