I hear ya. But to tell you the truth, I can't stand being in a day cab. I like my sleeper. I like to sleep in the truck, I'm to the point where id rather sleep in my truck than my own bed because the bed in my truck is more comfortable.

I may change my mind in the future, but for now I love seeing the country.

I loved OTR, just not being away from my wife and two young children. There are things I really miss about it like seeing the country. Both have their advantages and I'm just happy that I've gotten to experience both sides of the fence. :)

See I'm single and have no kids or a girlfriend. So it fine for me. I miss my dad and my brothers but it gets easier every time i go out.

Im trying to see this one girl I went to high school with. If it turns into anything I will.be looking into a few companies based out of Florida where ill be home 2-3 days a week :)

If I were single with no kids then I would be running OTR for at least a couple of years. I'm happy where I'm at now though and love the time with the family.

I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week on average. On those weeks I gross $1500. On weeks I work overtime and on holidays I gross more than $2000. That's not including the benefits either. That's not all. When I'm done with work, I'm done. I park the truck, hop in my car and go home. I have no responsibility of the truck and it's cargo. No lot lizzards banging on my door at 3am. No fighting for parking spots. No line for showers and meals. I'm home every day. No OTR company offers this.

I too liked OTR when I was doing it, but now I wouldn't trade my daycab for anything. In a 8 hour shift, 2 hours max is spent driving.

Amen brother! To each his own. I also love driving day cab and being home at night and on my days off. That is one of the beauties in this industry is that there are numerous options to choose from especially once you get a little experience under your belt. :)

Yup. I was going to also add "no log book" to that list too and "no scale houses", but I forgot. There are so many benefits to being a local driver that you can't list them all.

We still run logs because we are out of the 100 mile radius on some runs and run down into Colorado and into Nebraska so we have to deal with ports but I can accept that. :biggrin_255:

I still don't think we would have to log even if we did venture outside the radius (government vehicle). I could be wrong though.
