Odds are that you will be hit by someone talking on their Cell/CB, eating lunch, pouring coffee or some other distraction before being hit by someone with a "low battery".
Why is it that someone comes on these blogs and ask for information or to offer information, there always has to be someone come on and start bad mouthing that person. It would be a good thing if you have good sound advice or give that person some support or keep it zipped
or offer up some facts to backup your claim.

I'm not here to make friends buddybaker. Nor am I here to make people "feel good", or just plain old 'tell them what they WANT to hear'.
I am a REALIST----not half full, or half empty.....all I see is the fingerprints on the glass.
There are enough wussies here that will stroke this posters ego, and tell her only what she WANTS to hear. Not me.
I speak my mind! And in this particular case (go back and read my replies) I have give her 100% honesty about how I feel of the situation. Doesn't mean I don't like her.......I don't like what is going on with her situation.
Besides; she's a big girl, and can take it. I think she's doing just fine without you buddybaker.Donnerpasser Thanks this. -
Ok, I was gonna leave this alone because I don't want to be part of enabling you to display your ignorance. But here's the deal. You don't know diddly about my physical condition. You only "think" you know something. I'll go with the cardiologist and, how I feel physically over your fears any day.
You can take this or leave it but I would be more concerned with your own health and the ability to do the job. You cannot predict what might very well happen to you while driving than you can about me or anyone else.
jtrnr1951 and THE ROOKIE Thank this. -
I would consider Elite Truck School in Hillsboro OR.
You will be treated fairly and they will make every effort to get you licensed.
Plus they are cheaper!
Definitely get a DOT medical card before investing any money in a truck school. -
Thanks BW, if this was meant for me. I have IITR as well as RCC(community college)within just few miles of me. I have been getting nothing but good things/reviews about both these schools. Cheaper surely sounds good but RCC is also cheaper than IITR by about 1000 dollars. I will get my DOT asap. I wanted to get a thorough going over by a specialist/cardiologist to set my mind at ease about what I believe I can do. Now that I have that, it will be up to the powers that be whether or not I will get the schooling as well as the job. Thank you again for the headsup about the DOT as well as the school in Hillsboro. I lived in Aloha for 8 years. Sure would have more chance to experience "big city" freeways up there than here but I can't have it all.

I just started driving at 68, I think I would rather have a driver w a battery coming at me than a driver who was a quart low, some of these "Professional Drivers" need a boot in their Butt, Welcome to the road!

So nice to meet you
I really allowed myself to be drug down by my age until I started looking around, a good reality check
So many have started careers later in life and I am so proud to be among that number
I love younger folks as well and know I can learn from people no matter their age. It's just good to know that I'm not the only one passed middle-aged that is signing on.

I cannot repeat what I have heard about the school you are considering as I have no first hand experience. But I will say I have not heard anything positive about them. I also understand that they are somehow tied into the community college thing. Please do research on them and speak with graduates and people who have been booted from their class before committing any funds to them.

There is a graduate on here from RCC but I don't know of anyone yet, that went through IITR. Well wait, through word of mouth, I did hear about someone attending. I'll do all I can to find some people who've gone through their school. Right now I am really leaning towards RCC(community college). Are you saying you don't think community colleges are good places to learn for a CDL? I mean I really don't know, again, I haven't talked to any actual graduates, yet
Thanks much, denise

I am not poo pooing community college, just a certain school. Again second hand info but that would indicate a need for first hand research. Make sure the school you give your coin to will see you through to your goal.
Does the community college have trucks to drive? That is what you are really paying for other than the written test preparation.
At the school I attended we were fully prepared to take the written test in 1 week, I passed all 6 tests with an average of 94% correct on the first try. I could never have done that on my own. Then the remaining 3 weeks were spent behind the wheel. Without the wheel time and pre-trip drills I would have never passed the driving exam. I would have given up in frustration.
I now have my CDL with all but passenger endorsements , but my job prospects have not increased. A huge percentage of the trucking jobs are low to no pay deals when you include the time away from home. If you have no home and are willing to call a truck (that belongs to someone else) home you can find a job to get you by on ($500-600 a week). But don't ever wreck it or get a ticket....
OBTW I have a clean driving record 10 years and no criminal history and none of the biggies has even responded to my applications. Not a naysayer just communicating realities.
