I’am the same way I own my truck I do my best to load in the late afternoon or evening and drive at night. have done my best to use that schedule for the last 35 years
There’s a number of reasons why one of them use to be 90% of the re- tards in 4 wheelers were home in bed .
Now it’s because all the Ftards are held up at the Peelot and the Loves & Fly’n J when the sun goes down Thank God for ELD’s that helps keep all the steering wheel holders caged up after dark so they can play demolition derby in the TS parking lots

    why?

Because we have too many drivers.

Many of them should not be driving, let alone driving a truck.

This past week I have five trucks that have been hit at T/Ss.

Two of them have some serious damage, the others were just "little bumps" that are not cheap to fix but the trucks are drivable.

I guess it would be nice if the truck manufacturers would build their cabs with easily replaceable components, like sleeper panels, or the piece that curves out behind the door on just about every aero truck.
Those seem to always take the hit when someone that doesn't know how to back their equipment up or prevent tail swing comes along. The way things are getting I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.

When I drove OTR, I preferred to start working at about 3 am with just a coffee and donut, stop around 8 for a good breakfast, then shut down around 3 pm, go shower, get an early dinner, then turn in about 8 pm. Never had a problem finding a space on days like that.
