I 80 in Wyoming can be bad as well, elk mt and Sherman get bad then mother nature likes to throw the wind in for good measure up there. How heavy is the load? As stated darker Colorado has a lack of truck stops on 70 there are quite a few rest areas though.

yeah 80 can get down right nasty...and of course everyone wants to still drive like fools...til they are in the ditch a few miles later...that stops em..

No idea on the weight of the load. First pickup is in Northridge, second in Santa Fe Springs, and third in Kearney. All deliver in Fond du lac.

Of note. I have driven 80 several times just not with winter conditions. 70, I have only driven once each way from only Denver to the western base of the slope coming down from Eisenhower tunnel.

To the op, you must carry chains in Colorado on 70. Bad weather or not, you must have them.

ALL companies recommend parking....it reduces the amount of money lost in a law suit.

Grab some bungie straps before you get there. And chain the #### thing up if needed, they'll have the signs up.

Super singles are the easiest to chain.

The sooner you put on chains, the sooner you realize how much safer it is with them on. Your biggest issue will be the wonderful state of Colorado requiring chains on WET pavement....burning a perfectly good set of chains.

Odds are, if you restrict yourself to daylight hours. Travel will be relatively easy across 70.

Agree, also pickup some rain gear and a fifth wheel puller it will help you bring the links you cant reach. Watch chaining videos on You Tube great info on there and most of all have confidence in yourself.

Just park it. It's too risky. When you start slipping and sliding, there's no turning back.

I ran 70 twice a week for two years and 80 once a week for a year. My opinion is that 70 is a much easier drive in bad weather. Colorado does a pretty good job of keeping the road passable. 80 there is not much you can do about the wind.
Just take your time. go slow and easy. let the "super truckers" end up stuck or in a ditch.
