They lifted the chain law at 10:00 am. I merged into the sea of traffic shortly thereafter. Some of the way across I was able to run around 45mph. Some of the way across was bumper to bumper crawling. Still made it to my pickup in Kearney on-time and ended my day at the J just west of Omaha. On to Fond Du Lac today. Every inch of this rig is coated with black mud.

Didn't chain up. I would say the experience was both concerning and aggravating. I certainly understand why some drivers wont do I-70. I also have a difficult time breathing when I try to sleep in high altitudes. I am fine as long as I am upright.

Hey FL guy, you did good. Next time, just ask for an alternate route up 15 to 80. Way back a long time ago, when I was a rookie, I got rerouted along 40 to clear a winter storm on 80 and then went north in Cali to get to French Camp or somewhere near there. The company praised me for planning ahead and paid me the extra miles as 80 ended up being shut down.

I'll take 15 to 80 all day long during the winter. At least you can take the go around(US30) for Elk Mountain if the wind is blowin. I personally like 55+ mph winds and frozen interstate!!!! It lets you see what a set of FedEx pups looks like upside down!:biggrin_25523:

Time for Round 2. Got to run a relay from Austinburg, Ohio to Chicopee, Ma. tomorrow night. Forecast for snow again. I-90 all the way across looks alot less squiggly on the map than I-88. Looks like 90 is a toll road and 88 is not . Wonder which route they'd prefer I run?

Seems they have changed the names... back when the tunnel first opened the signage indicated you had a choice of going over Vail OR running thru the tunnel. The signs on US 6 said Vail Pass....

If you want a little extra thrill take the US 6 exit next time you are headed west...

This deal is kinda like Fancy Gap out east...the new road isn't anywhere within 5 miles of Fancy Gap which is on VA Hwy 100 that runs thru Hillsville, VA... some how that new grade got the old name.

EZ Pass. Seems to work on everything in the Northeast.
