The Fontaine I have with 90,000 miles on the hub has loose deck fasteners already. It's also near impossible to tie down anything on top of the three wheel wells unlike the 2008 Fontaine I sold last year. When I was looking at the 17.5 Fontaine Infinty TX steps when they first came out, they were coming with 17,000 pound axles. The Doonan I could choose between 20,22, and 25,000 axles.
My .02, I wouldn't buy any 17.5 trailer, heck, really any trailer these days without an inflation system.

    Cluck Cluck Thanks this.

i just bought a new 51 reitnouer and i love it, but i almost bought a doonan with walker trailer sale out of monroe,LA and also check out the new 53x102 rear axel sliding Dorsey have, http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4619689 cant beat that price, saw this trailer in person, well built. Impressed. But ended up going aluminum. Btw the only thing i dont like about fountain is does new side rail, pain for straps. But Good luck and enjoy your new trailer no matter which one you get.
