A million people could comment, and there will be a million different suggestions, and they'll all be "right" - for them.
The problem is trying to create a one size fits all law for millions of different people, and thousands of different situations in trucking.
The only two who will be heard in the end will be the "safety groups" on one side - most who've ever driven a truck. And the industry lobby (ATA) on the other who would run every driver to death for peanuts if given half the chance.
Personally, if the rules make it just not worth doing anymore, then I just won't do it.

I like the do's and don'ts. I'm smart and you're dumb rules.
I don't know if any of you used that conference call before. Our company uses it all the time. With 40 drivers online, you can't get a word in. There's always 4-5 yelling at the same time. I usually hang up, lol. I could image 4,000 online. -

Go ahead and laugh it off.
You're GUARANTEED those union freighthaulers have been giving their opinions.
It would take less time to just DO SOMETHING than it will to formulate and type a nasty comment on here about it.
This is THE chance to tell them where to stick the 70 hour rule.
Don't pass it up. -
Not wanting to be a hypocrite, I went and submitted "my" thoughts.
Was easy, and took only a few moments.

The argument that the rules are too strict and we should be allowed to work/drive more is completely ignorant!!!
We need to work less and be paid more! If the rules allow us to work/drive longer, the overseers at the company will REQUIRE DRIVERS TO DO SO!!!
I've said it before, the rules are NOT OUR PROBLEM, it is THE WAY WE ARE COMPENSATED!!! We need to work/drive longer to make more and that is what is wrong with this pay per mile scheme!!!zentrucking, Hitman and walleye Thank this. -
How about this for a plan. We all sit and discuss what needs to change until our politicians realize that we are all on a forum chatting rather then working. A forum strike! Seriously though, the question in a nutshell is "how do we start a peaceful slave revolt". Most drivers fail to realize they are slaves to a broken system. The trucking industry is a megaopoly driven, government regulation strangled industry with NO future. When we realize we are the slaves rowing a sunken boat and decide to follow the rats off the boat, then you will begin to see a change... MEXICAN TRUCKS! Oh wait, that's happening now...lol
