    There was a thing about this a few years ago. The DOT started cracking down on race car haulers because for years they ran under the radar. The ruling was, if they get money for winning races and get paid by sponsors, they are considered “in commerce” and all rules and regulations apply.
    I remember NASCAR teams throwing a fit about it, as HOS rules didn’t fit well within their racing schedules.
