Many states have mandatory inspections for all vehicles and some are tough . MA has a truck inspection that exceeds FMCSA requirements . If your truck is inspected in MA you are not required to get a DOT inspection . If you have a truck over 10,000 lbs. gvwr in MA the inspection costs $125

IL also has similar rules but these are not mandated under the state DOT for non-DOT vehicles. 2hellandback wants all vehicles, cars as well as trucks, inspected by the DOT, or at least that what he appears to be saying. That is where I stated it couldn't transpire. As with IL, these inspections are a part of the laws as directed by the Secretary of state under the licensing (license plate renewal) laws. -
In fact it been shown time and again that the average motorist is far more dangerous than the average trucker in the trucking industry is. -
I can't help but wonder how that would go over once it was passed & signed into law? No exceptions. Everything would be an out of service violation for all vehicles. No Rust (Canada has that law), No holes in the floor (also a Canadian law and our rules are very similar in most circumstances), Brake pads & shoes that must have a minimum thickness and working properly, automobiles that must meet the same criteria as a commercial vehicle. The list is endless. And are you willing to have your taxes raised to hire enough enforcement people to do the job? -
Ya im just feeling pissy right now! -
