Agreed, it was the only time I ever did and in that stretch of road there wasn't much to choose from..lesson learned.

It varies by state, some states encourage parking at scales(unless otherwise posted, WI comes to mind), others forbid doing it(New Jersey is a good example of that).
IA has opened up old scale sites in some areas along Interstates for no amenities truck parking. -
I see truck parking spots at the scales in Florida. Not sure if only for inspections.

I used to eat lunch at the 70e.b. Scale in MD. I stopped there every day on my way back up from Winchester. Never once did they mess with me.Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
I've taken many a 10 at the Sheridan, WY, POE. They're very welcoming... they even invite every driver inside.
But seriously, slept there lots without issue. Actually, slept at lots of scales without issue. I do try and park downstream if at all possible. -
Only reason I can think he made me leave was because it wasn't a huge parking area and only had about 10 spaces, not sure...just a rude guy. I should of complained but wouldn't have done any good
