You will only use a couple of those forms once you are out on your own. Mainly your drop and hook form and expense reimbursement form for scale tickets etc..... The rest of them you'll almost never use. Keep us updated. Those are the only 2 forms I mostly ever use. Once in a while the extended pickup pay form.

Well I got back Wednesday night from my first run with DOT. We left the Liverpool Office around 12pm Sunday and drove to the Indiana DC in Cambridge City. We dropped a load of bread off there and slept there that night. We woke up around 7:30am Monday morning and picked up a full load and brought it to Nashville, TN. Slept in Nashville Monday night and unloaded around 4am Tuesday Morning. We didn't get out of there until 12 noon Tuesday and then drove to the Bush's Baked Beans Factory in Dandridge, TN. We picked up a truck load that night and drove to Greenville, TN and slept at a T/A for the night. We woke up around 5am and started back towards Liverpool and got back around 5pm. 1900 miles later and I am back home. I had a lot of fun. This coming week is a week full of class room then back out on the road, I can't wait!

    K2,

Where did you get your training from?
I went to PDI in Rochester and I felt they gave me enough training to make it in Trucking. I am glad you found something so soon and are on the Road. I stayed local and it met my needs very well.

    Good Luck to you!

I went to PDI in Rochester also. I graduated there on August 4th. It was a good school but I wish they would have done real more life backing with us. My class we only backed in the yard. I wish we did more of that. Other than the backing I really liked PDI. Where are you working local?

I "graduated" the early part of September.
Backing...Seemed like we got a lot of it in our class. The other guys in our truck really got it and if anyone was lacking it was myself. I had the "lightbulb" go on in my mind during one session out in the yard when one of the instructors told me what my sight picture should be and how to react to it. I am thankful for that instructor.

I went to work at ARG Trucking in Bergen. They are part of Wahdam's and they seem to be a great company so far. They are throwing a lot at me and I feel as though I am getting good training pay. Got my first check yesterday and I was pleased.

This job is all Tanker stuff and most times we are running at the MAX allowed weights for these Tankers. Very VERY different than a Trailer on the back. We had a partial load on the back yesterday and the sloshing really felt weird.

I thought of working for ARG. I grew up in LeRoy the next town to the south of Bergen. I applied there and was offered a job but they I decided not to go there because I got the job with DOT Foods.

Good for you I am glad you got in with ARG, you will make good money there. DOT pays a little more and that was another reason I went with them. I am glad to see a PDI student got a good job. I see a lot of people who go to that school who aren't driving material. I don't understand why some of those people are accepted into that school.

I really liked all the instructors. I thought they were all pretty good except Deb. I thought she was a loose cannon. She is a very unsafe instructor and I let them no that at the end. Oh I could tell you stories about that lady when were out on the road.

Anyways, good luck with ARG I hear they are pretty good.

Deb...LOL! She drove some of the guys nutz. She got to know the crew I was on and by the end of training she was pretty decent to us.

We had one guy that was really off as a student. I think he is STILL at DMV trying to pass his permit test!. Then, there was a guy that was caught trying to cook a piece of Venison on the exhaust during class, LMAO!

I learned to drive MANY years ago in the Military. Never gave it a second consideration till this year. Had been employed for 28 years by the same Big Yellow Box in Rochester. I am really glad I am gone from there.
