Hello all, I'm a recent CDL grad who needs some advice. In 2010, I was diagnosed with a "mood disorder" and was on lexapro for a few months. My provider had some blood work done, and it turned out my testosterone was low. I have not taken lexapro in over 2 1/2 yrs, and I took an OTC testosterone supplement. I haven't had any issues since. Here is my dilema: on the DOT physical, I answered no to any injuries or illness in the last 5 years. It didn't interfere with work and I had no problem functioning during the that time.
I have been talking to a recruiter and would really like to get this out in the open. I'm worried that they may say my DOT cert is invalid when I disclose this during a physical. Or that it may come out in a background check. I'm sure my provider will vouch for my fitness. Anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice?

I don't see you should have any problem. And I would have answered "No" to "Any illnesses?" too, given what you've disclosed. You may be denied a gun purchase application down the road though

Thanks for the info. Do they really search your medical records after you sign the hipaa release? Not real comfortable with that, sure feels like an invasion of privacy.
PS already got my guns -

Maybe I should keep it to myself and take my chances. Several instructors at my school said never volunteer anything. I've been unemployed for awhile and really starting to feel the pinch and things are looking bad at the wifes job. I would hate to get to orientation just to get sent home chasing paperwork, or worse yet disqualified. I have read some peoples medical horror stories during orientation. I hate to be anything but forthright, but desperate times.......
Scratch that. I suppose I would rather be honest and potentially unempolyed -

Your medical records have not been private for many years.landstar8891 Thanks this. -
You got a problem. Some will say don't tell and some will say answer what they ask. It's really up to you. However, what you described I would really think about the situation because it may just not be an illness but a temporary condition. I would think this one's up in the air and I really don't know what I'd do.
