I was put out of service of Dec 2010. They DOT put me out of service and made my boss come to my location. The sheriff got under my trailer and found all kinds of violations. The tickets were
CLAMP/ROTO TYPE BREAKS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT
PLACARD DAMAGED, DETERIORATED, OR OBSCURED
BREAKS OUT OF SERVICE: THE NUMBER OF DEFECTIVE BREAKS IS EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN
CMV MFR> 10/19/94 WITH AUTOMATIC AB ADJUST SYSTEM FAILS TO COMPENSATE FOR WEAR
LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY DEFECTIVE/MISSING
Now I didn't get the ticket but its on my record. I guess they want truck drivers to be mechanics now. This will be on my record until Dec of this year but companies are holding this against me for employment. I just found this on my DAC do anyone think this is worth fighting?

CSA numbers are all yours.. for each of the violations as well as the OOS. DAC is OK.. PSP numbers may take a hit. The company will take a toll for the these violations and the weighting of each of the violations AND for the OOS.
Your only problem is that when and if you decide to change companies, your PSP will show this RVI and the date and each violation.. but some companies worry about the accidents and tickets on the PSP more than equipment..Last edited: Jan 28, 2013

Yeah driver when they say its all on the person who is driving the truck they mean it!!! I will advise drivers to stay away from bad companies no matter what kind of bind you are in. I don't know one company driver who actually gets under the trailer and check all of these problems. I didn't have a clue when he found all of these violations but now I'm paying for it the hard way.

It is going to be on your csa record for 3 years
-
Yeah I didn't have a problem with it at first. Now for some reason companies have brought it up. I have to wait until Dec of this year for it to be cleared. Its been pretty frustrating. I didn't even know the trailer had that many problems. The DOT pulled me over and said he knew he was going to find something. That company record is so terrible, instead of fixing problems they just patch them up to get their loads delivered

The placard is not underneath the trailer. Just sayin......... Some issues won't be detected, but you have to take care of the ones that are in plain sight. Just go to SMS website and look at inspections. Tons of violations for the easiest and basic things.

Your a company driver and you didnt pretrip your trailer? Im an o/o and pretrip my trailer and truck every day. And i won the truck and trailer and know whats wrong with it. What really hurts is everything that they noted in the inspection couldve been caught on a pretrip thats whats killing you the most
West coast trucker and Hardlyevr Thank this. -
Yeah ya gotta remember that truck is yours once your out of the lot with it. so anything that happens good or bad is your fault. the reason it is coming up is because CSA is kicking in harder and harder

Yeah the placard's they have are pretty old and attached to the trailer. Not the newer version that you just insert and clamp and they didn't offer new ones. (Leaf springs missing, breaks out of adjustment). I have never physically got under any trailer and checked on those for a pre trip for any company. That's something that usually is checked by a mechanic so I thought. I never had that problem when I worked for a half decent company. They usually check that when they PM the trucks themselves.

Did you buy your CDL in that case? How did you pass the pre-trip portion? The same thing applies in real life. You dont have to be a mechanic, but you should know what belongs/ is missing and can identify them.
