Most wrecker companies I have ever dealt with will get their money before they let you have your vehicle back.

My thoughts and insight on it as well. Once hooked someone pays and they really don’t care who. So if your wrongfully towed you most likely would need to file a legal claim against someone to get compensated.

I said I was leaving the thread, but I do want to expand on this. In my comment, I left a lot of the backstory out. The driver was playing "chicken" with the property owner. The owner did NOT call the wrecker. He called the COPs. It was the COP that called the wrecker. Once that call was made that driver had every chance to leave. It became a pissing contest until the driver saw the wrecker coming, then he saw the light and attempted to leave. The COP would not let him leave until he settled the charge.

I don't know what it is with some people who can't handle a situation correctly. It's almost as if they want to bully people. Sometimes that game of "chicken" doesn't end well.

I have seen a law (not THE law) regarding this. It said essentially that riding in the vehicle while it was being towed. It seems that many have conflated this law with the law regarding not being able to tow with someone in the vehicle.

Add a ball gag and a set of handcuffs hanging off one wrist. They will probably move along.

I've seen lots of Class 8 Trucks on Hooks and a couple of Road Trucks I drove were Hooked to Repair Shops.
I had never had any inclination to Challenge the Uniformed Individual presenting as a State Trooper or City Kitty or County Mounty or Undercover Agent or hallucination with TEETH, instructing this Hand in when and where to move my Rig.
Officer: "You Need To Move Your Rig NOW"!
Me: "What are my options Sir or Ma'am"?
"I repeat for the second and LAST time..................."!!
Thank You Sir or Ma'am For The Clarification as well "options".

State and Local Police LOVE When People Challenge their directives.

    I liked watching.........from a distance.

Its actually better. Next family to move in from the city thought they were king #### too. They survived the tail end of the first winter and the second winter.
Over the summer they purchased all kind of things to take care of the property brand new and nothing cheep including a brand new Kubota. That year we had a fairly hard winter lots of drifts the type that blows everything shut in an hour or less after you plow.
Long story short, come spring they were done, ready to move back to the city and sold everything at a serious loss. Everyone they looked down on from the area got something good at a huge discount!
This time a good friend was able to buy the house and a year later was able to buy that Kubota off me to take care of the place. So we now have peace hopefully it lasts.
