In CA it only attached to your drivers license if you take it to DMV, Then they will enter it into the system give you a receipt, and you get it back. Just went thru it.

Actually we could get technical and say maybe. It's attached to your CDL. If you need a med card and not a CDL (CMV's 10k to 26k lbs) you need to carry your med card as it's not attached. -

10 years ago the med card wasn't tied in you license at the dmv like it is now. And 10 years is how old this thread is.

Using some of Mike_MD's logic, a person who got their CDL thru a companies school program would have to surrender their CDL to the company when they quit or are fired.
Not going to happen.
