That company's DOT number should be on every one of their trucks.

They should be able to verify the company existed just by looking them up. There is a website where you can look that kind of stuff up. It's part of FMCSA.

Yeah i know that but he doesnt want to even want to call them back for me. Should i give it to the company myself or let them run it themselves. Cause the way i see it they shouldnt even ask for it. Its open for anybody to see on that website.

If you are applying for a job you should make the effort to provide the information they request . Having them have to find information they know is available to you doesn't give them a very good impression .
Former employers are required to respond to inquiries from potential employers but FMCSA requires the potential employers to make the inquiries .

When my ex put his truck in my name I had to apply for a DOT number but the company we were leased to put "Their" DOT number on the side of the truck. My ex put my number on the truck but the DOT forced him to take it off. They said that by law I had to have the number just for legal purposes. The company that you lease to that is the only true number you need. So who ever you were pulling for (The number that is on the side of the truck) is the only one you will need.
So just casually walk by one of their trucks and copy the number.
    Hope that helps.

Why don't you just go to where there are a couple of his trucks with a pen and some paper?
