Not in the minds of the majority of drivers, unfortunately.

On side advocates less hours to demand more money, while the opposing side wants more hours resulting in less money. Still the same number of hours to be worked. No other occupation would so willingly give up unpaid time during their 'work day'.

I was pretty excited at the possibility of a more flexible split sleeper. But I don’t think simply being able to “stop” your 14 by going off duty for up to three hours will be a good thing. Like others have mentioned above, the incentive to collect and pay detention pay will be lessened because now they have three more hours.

To Hell with FlipFlop Express. Anyone who’s such an idiot that they can’t figure this out deserves to go out of business.

I wish the 30 min break was gone too, since that does nothing but hinder productivity. Barring that, I’m on the clock, so if they want to sit and play with myself for 3 hours it would be an honor and a privilege.

    That's roight Mr Mack.

People don't seem to understand that when I get that rig moving bright and late or stormy and early... that rig isnt stopping for hundreds of miles, particular out west.

IF I had to pull in real quick to say clarify news from home I will be falling out of that groove (to borrow a term) and it will be difficult to get moving again. These days the phone will just have to wait until Im done with the miles for the day.(Or night)

The best option in my opinion is, 11 hr driving, 10 hr sleeper, that's set and simple. No 14, no new 17hr rule.
Let drivers to plan their trips to pass the overcrowded cities, get rest when they want and need.
Example, I would stop before approaching Chicago, at 5 pm to avoid heavy traffic and move later, instead going to the traffic chaos loose from 70 hrs '' on stop and go '

Well I guess we will have to see how it comes out. The proposed rule changes would work for me. I’m a day cab guy nowadays but it sure would be nice for the clock to stop if stuck at a slow unload. That would be all the difference between finding a hotel and getting home to my family.

How many of you worked under the old 1962 rules that were changed in 2003?
