Do they test A1C automatically or only if my blood sugar test shows high?

Im on diabetes meds so i take those. Then week ahead im eating all greens lean meats. Working out. Testing my sugar. If its below 200 im good. No coffee for bp. No soda or pop as we call it in ohio. Depending on time of physical u may want to eat something that wont spike sugar. If its like 8 am ok to fast.

Yea I've cut out all sodas since yesterday, and watching what I eat I i'm gonna pack a lot of water with me and chug lots of water on my way to Fort Worth on sunday where I'll have my DOT test done Monday and i'll check my blood with my meter. Reason is that I was diagnosed type 2 but weight controlled so never took meds well this past year I've gone how can you say it care free in what I eat so my BS is usually 200 but i'm 22 and I don't have side effects of high Blood Sugar imo

Most companies want u below 200. If u bit 200 u will be asked to provide a1c. Happened to me. Be like 180 and you will be fine.

For diabetics you don't want sustained readings of 200. Any reading over 140 shows lack of control. A1C readings are much more accurate when measuring control. At some point when the A1C tests are as cheap as the test strip look for everybody to get the A1C. Fasting a few days before won't help.

As for blood sugar in general I know were talking about your jobs, but keep those blood sugar readings high and your risking blindness and loss of limbs. Best advice get them under control.

once they dip your urine and it shows sugar, they will do a finger stick. The DOT standard is less than 200, they can fail you for anything above that. the A1C is not a test that can be performed anywhere, some places don't have the ability. If you've been averaging around 200, back off of everything bad, you know the things, and don't eat from about dinner the night before. Diabetes is also one of the indicators for a sleep apnea referral, regardless of your BMI, neck size and such. Work to make sure your BS is below 200, its important

Don't have the side effects huh? I used to thjnk that way, then I had to take time off because my bs was too high. Got my BS down around 140 and was feeling lows... you shouldn't feel that unless your under 80.. I'm in much better shape now, and watch it much closer. Good luck, you'll need it.

I failed a dip stick test in oreintaton, 10 years ago. I didnt know I had type 2 diabetes then.
Quit eating 12 hours b4 physical. No drinking sodas or coffee.
I have never failed another dip test.
