DOT Physical Question - Do I have to duck walk?

well if im ever asked to duck walk guess I will fail cause my left leg wouldn't let me do that . If they ask you to do that so you can check under the trailer why not just get down on all fours like baby you can still check like that couldn't ya

 

Company probably doesn't care, maybe just a legal way to weed out the fat/old people.

 

well im 6'5 265 im not fat but not skinny either I just had a bad left leg from a wreck I was in when I was 5 yrs old so I really cant squat like that cause of it looking at me you would never know anything is wrong tho

 

A lot of things have to be right with your hips, legs, knees, and ankles to duckwalk smoothly. That is why some employers include it.

 

well if they include it with me I might as well go home lol I couldn't do that if my life depended on it

 

Company physicians may require it, and other maneuvers; 1, to ensure you can handle tailgating a nursery load, etc., and 2, to ensure you don't claim a fresh work-related injury and undeservedly avail yourself of worker's comp. (They have you walk on your heels because people with slipped and herniated discs may otherwise appear to be in good condition.)

 

I couldn't duck walk if my life depended on it I can walk on my heels tho

 

if you don't pass the eye exam on the dot physical will they give u either a 30 day or 60 card at first so you can go get some glasses I ask because if I fail anything on my test it would be that

 

From speaking with several physical doctors at various companies I have worked they pretty easy on the eyes unless you can't see the top line with both eyes open, you pass. But if you fail it no they won't give you a card at all.
