there are a few things that can help you. I am not a doctor so anything i say you should get checked by a doctor to make sure they are ok for you. First of all do not drink coffee that day. Caffeine can increase blood pressure. Second start exercising it will not only help you but lowers your blood pressure. next make sure you get a really good night's sleep the night before. and last some people take an asprin or chewable asprin as it thins the blood slightly which would lower BP. but make sure you can take asprin before you do it. here is a link to a webpage with 13 ways to lower your blood pressure. http://www.prevention.com/health/health-concerns/13-ways-lower-blood-pressure-naturally

I'm assuming you know it has to be under 140/90 to get a 2 year card. Over that you get a 3 month temporary card to get it down below that then you get a 1 year card if you require meds.

You should strive to get it down, not just on physical day. I too have high blood pressure but take a tiny pill to help keep it down. For that reason, my med cards have only been for one year.

Perhaps they need to raise your dosage namder? Most doctors will push to get you down to about 110/70. The older you get, the more that plumbing clogs. They raised mine 3 times before they were happy. I take both Lisinopril 40mg and Metoprolol 100mg.

But like others said 325mg aspirin will lower you down. Take it about a hour before testing, relax and avoid caffeine and cigarettes that morning.

I can walk in from the parking lot and it will be high. Rest about 15 minutes and it drops way down.

    RickG Thanks this.

Stay away from caffeine, cigarettes, and just relax.

If you are already on meds and your BP is a concern you need to talk to your doctor ASAP . It may take a week to see if the new meds work or if something else needs to be tried.
