Hey all, I’ve got a DOT physical scheduled for tomorrow morning. I’m trying to get a jump on things because of the BMI/sleep study I hear about. (I’m definitely over 35 BMI, and my neck is currently about 16.5”). I’m not planning on attending CDL school until the beginning of the year as I have recently quit smoking the lettuce for a better career. My question being, I’ve read mixed responses about the urine test being just for health or if they do health and drug screening. Is there a way to just have the physical done without the drug screening without it coming across as a refusal or denial? I’ve also heard that being too honest about this can flag you and I would need a SAP course (if I check the box yes). Thanks for any and all advise.

If your taking a medication. Ask your doctor for a note stating that your safe to drive a commercial vehicle. Present that note to whatever examiner. If the doc wont give it to you, then you should find another carreer

Go have a physical with your regular doctor. Let him know you have a DOT coming up.

I need to clear something up! A clinic does do drug testing like this! They also have to start the chain of custody with the name of the MRO at the top if they do a drug screen. If you don't have a CDL and are simply taking a DOT physical there is no MRO in the process. YES! the clinic will want a urine sample! It's NOT for a DOT drug screen unless you are being sent there by a carrier to get it done! Folks need to understand for purposes of a DOT medical a CMV is defined as a vehicle over 10,001. You still have to have a medical card!
