I am worried about it. Over half of my runs take just over 11 hours drive time. Going to be hard to tell the shipper that I am 30 mins away and cant make it today. When you do haul beating hearts it does have a bigger effect.

Why would you worry? When any e-log mandate would come along, no one else is going to get it there any faster. It may seem like it is hard to tell the shipper the bad news, but every other truck that may potentially haul the stuff will have to tell them the same thing. Let the shipper and cons do all the worrying. After all, everyone knew the HOS regulations already in place, or should have. Now they would just have to live within them. What truly is stupid, is that shippers and others see this stuff coming at them, yet they will wait to the very last minute before they try to adapt to it. And then wonder why their world is falling apart. It sure isn't like the government is making these changes in 24 hrs after first bringing them up. People have months and months to prepare and adjust their schedules.
One can cry in their beer all they want, but that solves nothing. True, folks should try and limit or stop this kind of stuff, but the smart person doesn't assume that sanity will prevail, and prepares for what is coming at them. -
I've adapted to E-Logs and learned to make money. Since March 6, I've run over 6,000 miles. Legally. Fully rested and no worrying about the DOT. Gotta learn how to work kid. I get where most are coming from. But at the same rate, if you don't try to run legal than the E-Log is gonna suck for you. If you screw off,you won't make money. Or make anything on time. E logs are coming down the pile for everyone.

And like I stated earlier, the e-log thing is just the 1st in a "1-2 punch". DOT is claiming they will have a speed limiter ruling out later this year. So boys and girls, the screws are going to tighten a little. They are hoping to get all of this stuff pretty much in place before the next congress gets up and running after the upcoming election this fall. They have a congress now that will not do anything major to stop this stuff, and there are already other issues that take everyone's attention away from this stuff. So, hold onto your shorts, the ride will get bumpier.

If you worked at McDonald's and they said we are only gonna pay you when you cook a hamburger but you have to come in early and clean the grill and stay late and clean up for free would you so it? I'm betting not. So why do you agree to only be paid for driving when we do a lot more then just drive- loading, unloading, fueling, paperwork, repairs etc. that's all free labor when you only get paid for 1 thing you do.Ann Eiffel and RERM Thank this.
