Anyone ever done this before? Like have you ever gotten the confirmation and it reads something like, this can not be brokered to anyone. I even picked up a shippment one day when the confirmation said "the shipper will check the name on the truck".
You mean to tell me brokers pass down to truckers double brokering all the time, but truckers can't do it?

I tell you what, if I could find a $2.50 a mile haul, and could pay a company driver to do it for .99 cents to haul it for me thats working smarter, not harder.
I know I'm going to get a lot of broker loving, kiss there butt comments on this one.

Pay a company driver .99/mile? That's not very smart. Did you mean to say O/O?

    I guess I was thinking of a leased O/O.
Which is almost like a company driver because all the money they make has to be shared with the company they work for.

:hmph:The broker is probably just double checking to make sure he is covered:confused:. If the driver passed it on , after getting a confirmation in his name, the trucker he gave it to might not have insurance, or authority:smt101. And what would happen if the broker paid you the freight, but you did not pay the trucker who hauled it? Perhaps the driver high jacked :dontknow:the load, then you could be responsible, since you agreed to haul it. I can understand making sure of who is hauling the load:smt115.Could be some big problems.

What about a broker that pays another broker to move something because they can't find anyone? Same thing, could be big problems there too. Double Brokering

Brokers are at least supposed to be bonded / licensed to stave off possible problems. And the original broker would definetly check out the second broker before trusting him.I read the original poster as brokering the load to another without telling the first broker. That would not be cool.

Had a load offer last week from the people I'm now with.
I knew it was a broker load. Ok
Tell her can not do it as it was a heavy load with 2 pieces. Not through Ar.
Looking at load board over the wkend. I see it posted.
So I ask her Monday, is that ld. from such and such company, No somebody else. Ok.
Then she says hold on a minute, Here's another posting of a ld. from the same place.
She comes back laughing on the phone.. These people are listing the ld. as well.
So who really had the ld. I do not know, but here are 3 different comapines listing the same load..
I caught one company brokering a ld. that they knew they could not broker. Called the main office on that one.
This was with my former employer.

    aiwiron Thanks this.

that's exactly right, your authority allows you to haul loads for hire. You need broker authority to "hand off" loads to other truckers. The only way is for them to haul the load on your authority, not theirs. Or for you to have broker authority.

I may be somewhat of a broker loving, kiss butt as you say. The way I look at it is like this, most shippers require a service I can't provide as far as requiring several trucks or even ones that only have a shipment every other week or something. If there was no brokers they would be forced to hire TMC or Hunt or some other large carrier. It's really brokers who allow me to operate like I do and insure that in most locations I will be able to find a load. Of course, that only applies to the ones who do their job correctly !!
