currently in school now, before we hit the trucks what are some methods or best methods to practice double clutching to get a feel for how i would be shifting once in the trucks. Thanks in advance to all you experienced drivers out there with reasonable responds...:biggrin_25511:

I was told to put a chair in the middle of the kitchen. Take a toliet plunger and suction it to the floor as your shifter. Practice the shift pattern. Never did it but it just might work.

IMHO. you really can't "practice" any other way besides the real thing. Nothing else is going to give you the feel for the technique. Once down the road with more experience you will likely not even use the clutch unless the truck is moving to slow to float it into gear, or when stopped so you can get moving again.

just practice tapping your left foot with the rhythm of a double-clutch, while moving through the shift pattern. make sure you pretend to flip the splitter to the up position in 5th gear, before you pull your 'plunger' over to 6th gear.

practice downshifting by tapping clutch in with left foot, moving down 1 gear, tap the gas pedal with the right foot to 'rev it up', move down 1 gear without tapping 'clutch' again... hope it makes sense.

I agree with SuperLiner in that there isn't any better way than the real thing. You'll get the hang of it really quick so long as you relax and don't stress out about it. It'll come to you just like walking and riding a bike!!
