Part of the reason for "Port of Phoenix" is so the can automate the train loading and send secure trains to AZ for customs processing.

What's gonna be funny is in a year or so when the Cali ports and CARB puts themselves out of business. Last I read, the Panama Canal project will open up in a year or so and a bunch of that freight will stay on the boats a little longer. I guess all those union and government workers can find a school or tax office to work at or something. It's probably illegal to lay them off.

Unfortunately the CARB employees will get promotions for doing a great job and moved around. The other government workers will be given priority reassignment or allowed to reduce workforce by attrition. <Soap box off>

That's ok. I also hear the NY/NJ ports are already looking at California as a model of operational excellence and fiscal aptitude.

Meanwhile the dredges are working overtime to get SC and GA ports able to handle the super-size can carriers that will soon have a shorter trip to the east coast.

Here's a piece from the New York Times last year talking about migration between the states: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...ople-in-each-state-were-born.html?rref=upshot

Native Californians are fleeing and they aren't being replaced by folks from other states. As go the jobs, so go the people...

Well if the goal is to try and turn CA into a nature preserve, they're well on their way...

    Rocks Thanks this.

What puzzles me is how you and Ogre have so much time to post here. After all, there's thousands of your fellow Californians depending on you to fund their benefits and environmental programs. Now get to work! LOL

Thought about taking an Uber to look at a potential Yard/Office. But Sunset on Sunday does not seem like the correct time to look at property.

This morning's posting time brought to you buy hustle and good trip planning: Keeping the door shut and delay last departure so I do not show up too early to delivery.

Other postings time attained through winding down from the stress generated from the conditions in your post.

Well, it took a week or so, but I made it thru all 117 pages. Very informative. Thanks to all, especially DY for his details. I just bought a 99 century, and this thread has given me food for thought.
I am considering starting a thread which would chronicle my old truck, and my approach being from someone who is a polar opposite to DY, could be entertaining.

the one great thing about trucking is there are many ways to do it
of course if your not doing it my way your wrong
but it is your right to be wrong
despite 40 years of history to the contrary I believe myself to be smarter then everyone else
