    I would say that deep tread highway tires aren't the best idea for rocky roads. 30/32 will hold some rocks. I've picked a few out of mine.

    So after reading all 123 pages of this epic in one night. Yes, 1 night. I am wondering what's new in the Epic of Double Yellow. Especially since you've been silent all month. What's going on man?

    Still chugging along. I took off most of November because rates weren't great and I was feeling lazy...

    Getting tired of constant little repairs on a 15+ year-old truck, especially in cold weather, but that's the price you pay to have no payment. Then again, a new truck payment might motivate me to work when I don't feel it...

    Just off the top of my head, here are the current truck deficiencies:
    1 month old steering gearbox is leaking (minor)
    Coolant reservoir has minor leak @ sightglass
    Coolant sensor bad
    Signal stat wiring harness going bad (have to jiggle it for right turn signal to work)
    Brake light switch going bad (brake lights don't come on unless you brake hard)
    Air governor leaking, particularly when cold
    Dash valves (red & yellow air supply) leaking when pulled
    Cab shocks and rear bushings worn
    Minor exhaust leak -- 3rd time in the last year, probably from cab slamming into exhaust pipe on bumps (weed burner coming next)
    Tail-light bulb keeps blowing (cleaned socket & used dielectric grease this time -- next step is replace entire units with universal LED)
    Minor oil leak at rear main comes and goes
    Clutch brake worn
    City horn stopped working (3rd time in a year)
    headlight wiring is suspect (has been flickering lately, especially on bumps)



    Nickles and dimes sure add up...

    Yep but a new truck just hits you harder less often.

    Still sitting in York, NE since Sat.

    DPF plugged again. They got they Reman one in today but broke a sensor and a little piece of tubing when they tried to move them over from the old one. Should have replacements in the morning...

    I'd rather work on an old truck than sit and wait for a new one to get out of the shop. I kinda like to tinker. It keeps me sane.

    Both new and old are great and both suck in different ways. It's kinda like "choose your poison". I go for comfort, predictability, and not being targeted by the DOT.

    I go for reliability. I can't take the chance of an emission engine crapping out on the side of the road in the summer with a load of cattle on. And I've never been targeted by the DOT.

    Hey Long FLD, I thought that there was an unwriten agreement between the cattle haulers and the DOT, stating that you guys will tolerate the smell in exchange for a free pass at the scale? Seems fare to me.

    Something like that. Lol. I had a clean level 1 in Vicksburg MS in September. I was empty and the trailer was washed out. I imagine it would've been a paperwork check if my trailer was dirty. Haha.
