I do that also but be sure to check the imagery date in Street View. I used it to preview a retail customer I was delivering to in Deale, MD (it is VERY handy helping me preview with eyes on to go with my customer's directions as I do retail delivery in a full size OTR rig and tight maneuvering and backing skill challenges are the order of the day everyday LOL); Well the SV showed a dilapidated old two story wood structure with trees and three foot weeds all around it. Not the nice Hardware Store I was delivering to. I looked at the image date and it was 2008. LOL. Totally cool when it's recent imagery, though.

Nothing online beats Google Maps. You can see the buildings, entrances and even walk down the street.

The Truckers Report Online Map :)

Streets and Trips is good but I find it a hassle to fire the laptop up or try to use it enroute. A good ol' Truckers Map, shorthand notes, a phone call to the customer and a verified and corrected GPS are the methods I like, but to each his own. The better you trip plan the less you will get lost and be prepared.

Sure you can. I used it the other day when my internet was down. Most of it is downloaded to your files. It doesn't show all the building details but the skeleton map is there and works.

Edit: PM me your address and I'll send you Streets and Trips 2007 if you want it. Not much has changed since then.

What I like about Streets and Trips (I use it too) is you can set the options for speed on the different road types like Interstate, US, State and Local roads so it gives you a much more accurate time for the trip along that route than most GPS and other platforms do. I found most of those calculate the time for the trip to be a pure function of the distance and the posted speed limit. We all know that ain't the case so we factor our own difference to add to the time the gizmo or even Google says. Streets and Trips lets you set a much closer approximation based on how fast YOU know you can run on various roads in relation to what it knows the speed limit on that road is.
